Hooks are rigging attachments used to connect slings, chains, or wire rope to a load or to a hoist/crane, allowing quick attachment and release during lifting operations.
Most rigging hooks in this category are available with a spring-loaded safety latch to help retain the sling or load inside the hook throat. Confirm the specific latch configuration on the product page before ordering, since some specialty hook styles are supplied without one.
Working load limit varies by hook size and style and is stamped on the hook body. Loading a hook at an angle rather than in-line reduces its rated capacity - this must be accounted for in the lift plan.
Retire a hook if the throat opening has spread beyond the manufacturer's allowable limit, if there is visible bending, twisting, or cracking, or if the latch no longer closes fully. Follow a documented before-use and periodic inspection routine.
