Industrial Alloy Chain Slings
At Holloway Houston, we offer alloy chain slings built for heavy-duty lifting. These chains are heat-treated from high-strength alloy steel to improve their strength and performance. With high carbon content and extra alloying elements, our chains are designed to handle demanding loads. They are marked with load handling capacities for easy identification of grade and manufacturer.
Alloy chain slings are the preferred choice for overhead lifting due to their unmatched tensile strength, which is more than double that of standard steel chains. With a minimum elongation at a break test of 20%, these chains meet or exceed the latest standards set by the National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM), ANSI B30.9, and OSHA regulations. Our chains are supplied with a protective finish for added resistance against harsh conditions.

Braided Chain Slings are built tough to tackle the most demanding lifting and rigging jobs. They're super strong, durable, and flexible. Made from Grade 100 alloy steel, these slings can handle high temperatures and tough environments, perfect for heavy lifting in industrial settings.

Alloy chain slings are used for lifting heavy loads in industrial operations and holding them in place during transport. Made from high-quality alloy steel, these slings provide greater strength compared to regular steel chains, making them a practical choice for overhead lifting tasks.

Holloway provides a range of chain accessories, including hooks, shackles, and specialty fittings, improving the safety and efficiency of your lifting operations. Our durable products are designed for various industrial applications and are available from top brands known for quality and performance.
Lifting Chains and Sling Fabrication
At Holloway Houston, we specialize in fabricating lifting chain slings using high-quality, pre-tested alloy chains and components. Each sling is carefully assembled and welded to precise specifications to handle demanding lifting applications. Our chain slings are built with components that meet the standards set by the National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM), ANSI/ASME B30.9, and DOL-OSHA regulations.
We offer a full range of chain sling fittings, including single-leg, double-leg (two-leg), triple-leg (three-leg chain sling bridles), and quad-leg (four-leg rigging chain sling bridles), as well as custom-made fittings and lifting chains tailored to your needs. Every chain sling undergoes proof testing, and we provide certificates for all our products at no extra cost. This process guarantees that our products meet the required safety and performance standards.

Quality Manufacturing
At Holloway Houston, every chain sling is made with high quality material, which follows strict guidelines during each step of the process. Quality is not just a goal, it's a requirement. Each sling goes through multiple checks to make sure it meets the highest levels of accuracy and safety. We follow a 4:1 design factor, in full compliance with ASME B30.9 and OSHA safety standards. This means our slings are made to handle demanding lifts while staying within safe working limits. Before any sling leaves our facility, it is proof tested to confirm its strength and performance. A test certificate is included with every shipment so crews can use them right away with confidence. Whether it’s for lifting heavy equipment or repeated use in tough environments, our chain slings are made to deliver consistent performance without delays or rework.
Wide Variety of Chain Attachments
Holloway Houston provides many chain attachments through strong partnerships with top chain rigging suppliers. We offer components from trusted brands like Crosby, Carcano, and Yoke. Whether it's self-locking hooks, grab hooks, sling hooks, clamps, or any other rigging hardware, we can integrate them as permanent parts of your chain assembly.
High-Temperature Performance
Chain slings can be used at temperatures up to 400°F/204°C without reducing their rated load, making them suitable for high-temperature applications. At temperatures up to 1,000°F/538°C, rated loads are reduced, and the corresponding load reduction for temperatures above 400°F/204°C are listed in the chart below. These reductions remain in place for the lifespan of the sling, with additional reductions applied as the sling is used in future high-temperature conditions.

Adjustable Chain
At Holloway Houston, we know that every lift is different. That’s why we offer adjustable chain slings that give crews more control in the field. These slings are designed to help you change the length of the lifting legs, making it easier to handle uneven loads or shift between pick points. Setups like SAA, SAB, DAA, and DAB include an extra chain leg with a grab hook or other hooks, so you can shorten a leg when needed, no extra tools required. It’s a simple way to make your rigging more efficient. We also stock the Crosby Eliminator, which brings even more flexibility by allowing multiple legs to connect through a single system. All components are carefully assembled and meet industry standards. Whether you're moving structural parts or machinery, these adjustable options help you stay ready for whatever the job brings. You can find more details on our Adjustable Chain Slings page.
CARE & USE of Chain Slings
Care:
- Store chain slings on a rack in a dry, clean area.
- Before storing for extended periods, apply oil to the sling to maintain its condition.
- Avoid annealing (tempering) alloy chain, connecting links, or hooks. Consult with the manufacturer for guidelines on hot galvanizing.

Use:
- Verify the weight of the load before use.
- Check the sling’s rated load capacity, considering the type of lift and load angle (refer to the load angle chart).
- Keep the sling free from twists, knots, or kinks.
- Protect the sling from being cut during lifting by padding sharp edges, corners, or abrasive surfaces with materials that provide adequate strength and thickness.
- Ensure the load is properly centered on the sling hook base, unless the hook is designed for point loading.
- Always maintain load control and ensure the load is balanced.
- Avoid sudden jerks during the lift.
- Stay vigilant for potential snagging of the load.
- Do not drag the sling over rough surfaces or pull it out from under the load.
- For choker hitches, ensure the choke is applied to the body of the sling, not the fittings.
- Always stand clear of the load.
- If using the sling in chemical environments or at temperatures below -40°F or above 400°F, consult the manufacturer for specific guidance.
- Only use the manufacturer’s recommended components when shortening the chain.

Inspection
Regular inspection is key to keeping your chain slings safe and ready for use. At Holloway Houston, we recommend checking each sling before every lift. Look closely for stretched links, bent hooks, or signs of wear at the connection points. Pay extra attention to the master link, hooks, and any areas exposed to heat or heavy loads. If you’re using adjustable configurations like SAA, SAB, DAA, or DAB, be sure the grab hook is properly seated and not showing signs of damage. Slings with Crosby Eliminators should also be checked for proper alignment and movement. If anything looks off, take the sling out of service and have it examined by a qualified person. Every chain sling we supply comes with clear inspection guidelines, and we’re here to help if you have any questions about what to look for.
Lifting Chains and Sling Fabrication
- The manufacturer or a qualified person must repair any sling that shows signs of damage or wear.
- When the horizontal lift angle is below 45°, the sling's lifting capacity is significantly reduced. Lifts with an angle lower than 30° should be avoided, as this can halve the sling's capacity, potentially causing it to fail. Use a longer sling to increase the angle, which will help raise the allowable capacity.
- Depending on the sling's specific capacity, the lifting capacity is reduced by at least 25% when using choker hitches.
