Many turnbuckles on the market are rated for lashing only, meaning static tension applications. Green Pin BN and JJ series turnbuckles are rated for overhead lifting. The BN series includes a safety bolt plus cotter pin (double locking) to prevent unscrewing under vibration. Confirm the turnbuckle is lifting-rated before including it in an overhead rigging assembly.

Polar Shackles for Extreme Cold

Standard Green Pin shackles are rated to -40°C. Polar shackles (G-5163) extend that range to -60°C (-76°F) for North Sea, Arctic, and other extreme cold applications. Polar shackles are Grade 8 alloy steel, quenched and tempered, with Charpy V-Notch impact testing certified to DNV 2.7-1 standards.

Super Shackles

Green Pin Super shackles use Grade 8 steel instead of Grade 6, allowing smaller physical dimensions at the same Working Load Limit. Useful where tight lug connections or envelope constraints drive hardware selection.

Tycan Fiber Chain

Tycan is a fiber chain made from 100% Dyneema (UHMWPE), not wire rope or synthetic sling webbing. It is 8x lighter than equivalent steel chain, allowing a single rigger to carry lengths that would otherwise require mechanical handling. Tycan holds DNV Technology Qualification.

Traceability and Compliance

Green Pin products are manufactured in Sliedrecht, Netherlands. Genuine products are marked with the GP or Bs symbol, a traceability code linking to the material batch, grade designation (6 or 8), and CE mark. Green Pin shackles meet EN 13889 and ASME B30.26 (from 2 tons). DNV GL, ABS PDA, and other third-party certifications are available on request.
