We load-test every single unit on our own test beds to verify the Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) before shipment. Safety and Rigging Awareness
Soft shackles are load-bearing synthetic components. Understanding their mechanical limits prevents field failures.

Button-Knot Seating: The button-knot keeps the loop from opening under load. The knot MUST pass completely through the eye. Once tension applies, the eye clamps down on the knot. An improperly seated knot will pull through instantly under a heavy load.

MBS vs. WLL: The Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) represents the tested failure point. The Working Load Limit (WLL) is your field operating limit. Never exceed the WLL during a pull.

Friction and Heat: Extreme heat generated by rope-on-rope friction melts HMPE fibers, destroying the shackle's strength. Never use a soft shackle in a configuration where a synthetic winch line slides or saws rapidly back and forth across the shackle body.

No Overhead Lifting: Soft shackles are engineered for horizontal vehicle recovery. They do not comply with ASME B30.26 (Rigging Hardware) and are explicitly NOT rated for vertical overhead lifting.

A soft shackle is a braided synthetic rope connector that functions
exactly like a steel D-shackle. It connects two load-bearing components,
such as a winch line and a tree saver strap. Instead of a threaded steel
pin, it uses a secure button-knot closure.
The 5/16-inch carries a WLL of 5,800 lbs (MBS 29,000 lbs). The 3/8-inch
carries a WLL of 8,700 lbs (MBS 43,500 lbs). The 7/16-inch carries a WLL
of 9,400 lbs (MBS 47,000 lbs).
Both lines carry identical WLL and MBS ratings. However, the HHIppo Link
is manufactured directly by Holloway Houston, individually load-tested on
our facility's test beds, built with an HMPE core and Fiber Lock coating,
and available in 15+ colors. The imported shackles serve as a value-tier
alternative without the extended color range or individual Holloway Houston test
documentation.
One end of the shackle features a large, formed knot; the other features a
splice eye. To close the shackle, you manually push the knot through the
eye. When tension applies, the eye chokes down and locks behind the knot.
To open, you remove the tension and easily push the knot back through the
eye by hand. No tools are required.
Synthetic soft shackles are non-conductive and non-sparking, separating
them from steel hardware. This non-conductive property provides advantages
in utility, electrical, and arborist applications where metal-to-metal
contact with energized lines presents a massive hazard.
