Crane Pallet Lifters & Fork Attachments

Forklifts are the standard for moving pallets on the ground, but they cannot reach into a ship's hold, lift materials to a rooftop, or navigate a cluttered construction site floor. For these "Below-the-Hook" applications, you need a Crane Pallet Lifter. These structural lifting beams convert your overhead crane or hoist into an aerial forklift, allowing you to move palletized cargo safely and efficiently.

Crane Pallet Lifters & Fork Attachments

Holloway Houston stocks a premier inventory of Peerless Pallet Lifters. Engineered for stability and ease of use, these lifters feature a counter-weighted design that keeps the forks level, whether loaded or empty, ensuring smooth insertion into pallet pockets.

Pallet Lifter Configurations

Fixed Fork Lifters (Peerless Model PL) The industry standard for handling uniform loads.

  • Design : Features permanently fixed forks spaced for standard pallets (typically 40" x 48").
  • Durability : With no moving parts, the PL series is virtually maintenance-free and built for heavy-duty cycle use.
  • Capacity : Stock units ranging from 1 Ton to 5 Tons WLL.

Adjustable Fork Lifters (Peerless Model PLAF) Designed for facilities handling varied load sizes, such as odd-sized skids, crates, or machinery.

  • Versatility : A hand-wheel mechanism allows the operator to adjust the spread of the forks to accommodate wide or narrow loads.
  • Efficiency : eliminates the need to swap out lifters for different pallets.

Wheeled & Lightweight Lifters (PLWL / PLLW)

  • Wheeled (PLWL) : Standard pallet lifters are heavy. The PLWL series features wheels on the rear upright, allowing the operator to easily roll the lifter across the floor when it is not suspended by the crane.
  • Lightweight (PLLW) : Engineered with high-strength alloy steel to reduce the physical weight of the lifter without sacrificing capacity. Ideal for smaller cranes with limited lifting capacity.

Forklift Attachments: Telescoping Booms

Included in this category are Peerless Telescoping Booms (Model TB) .

  • Function : These attachments slide onto the forks of a standard forklift, converting it into a mobile crane.
  • Application : Perfect for lifting motors, placing machinery, or reaching over obstacles where the forklift mast cannot go.
  • Safety : Secured to the forklift mast with a safety chain to prevent sliding.

Technical Design: The Counterbalance System

A common question is: "How does it stay level?" Peerless pallet lifters utilize a fixed or movable Counterweight system.

  • Empty : The counterweight ensures the empty lifter hangs level, allowing the crane operator to drive the forks into the pallet openings without manual assistance.
  • Loaded : The lifting bail is positioned directly over the load's center of gravity (typically 24" load center), keeping the pallet stable during the lift.

Technical Specifications & Compliance

  • Standard: Engineered to ASME B30.20 (Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices) and ASME BTH-1.
  • Load Center : Standard capacities are based on a 24" Load Center. Lifting loads with a center of gravity further out on the forks will reduce the capacity.
  • Proof Test : Individually proof tested to 125% of the Working Load Limit (WLL) with certification included.
  • Identification : Features a permanent metal nameplate with WLL, Weight, Serial Number, and Manufacturer.
