Swivel Hooks: High-Capacity Rotation & Torque Management

Rigging operations demand hardware that adapts to the lift plan. Holloway Houston’s comprehensive line of Swivel Hooks provides the versatility required to manage complex loads, prevent line twist, and streamline connection points. Whether outfitting a mobile crane, a winch truck, or an offshore pedestal crane, our inventory meets the rigorous demands of ASME B30.10 and EN 1677 standards.

We supply the industry's most robust selection of rotational hardware, engineered to solve the challenges of torque management in heavy lifting. From standard positioning hooks for static alignment to heavy-duty bearing swivels designed for rotation under full load, Holloway Houston has the specific configuration your project requires.

Bearing Technology & Rotation Capabilities

Selecting the right internal mechanism is critical for operational safety and component longevity. Our inventory is segmented into two primary configurations to match your specific lift requirements :
  • Thrust Bearing Swivels (Rotation Under Load) : These units feature high-performance tapered roller bearings or ball bearings sealed within the housing. They are specifically designed to rotate freely while under maximum Working Load Limit (WLL). This design actively relieves torque generated by wire rope, preventing "bird-caging" and ensuring the operator can position the load precisely without fighting the rigging.
  • Positioning Swivels (Alignment Only) : Ideal for aligning the hook with the pick point prior to lifting. These utilize a robust friction-based washer or bushing system, offering a cost-effective solution for lifts where rotation under load is not required.

Alloy Steel Construction: Grade 80 & 100

Holloway Houston refuses to compromise on material science. Our swivel hooks are forged from Quenched and Tempered (Q&T) Alloy Steel, ensuring maximum durability in harsh field conditions.

  • Ductility : The Q&T process ensures the hook body will deform visibly if overloaded, providing a critical visual safety indicator rather than suffering catastrophic brittle failure.
  • Fatigue Rated : Premium hooks in our inventory are fatigue tested to 20,000 cycles at 1.5 times the WLL, ensuring long-term reliability in high-cycle crane environments.
  • Corrosion Resistance : Finished with heavy-duty powder coating or galvanization to withstand harsh offshore, marine, and construction environments.

Latch Technologies & Safety Features

We provide diverse safety latch options to match your site protocols and specific lifting application:

  • Self-Locking (Positive Lock) : The gold standard for overhead safety. The hook gate closes and locks automatically when the load is applied. It cannot open while under tension and requires manual actuation to release. This eliminates the risk of accidental rollout or "tip loading" if the sling snags.
  • Standard Spring Latch : Heavy-duty steel latches designed to retain slings and master links effectively during slack conditions.

The Holloway Houston Advantage: Tested, Traceable, Ready

Holloway Houston is more than a distributor; we are a comprehensive rigging partner. Every swivel hook we sell is backed by our quality assurance processes.

  • Full Traceability : All hardware is permanently marked with the manufacturer logo, traceability code, and Working Load Limit.
  • In-House Proof Testing : We operate a 3,000-ton test bed and can proof-test any custom assembly or individual hook verification upon request.
  • Documentation : Mill Test Reports (MTRs) and Certificates of Conformance (CoC) are available for every unit, ensuring your project meets strict documentation requirements for OSHA and ASME audits.
