The Hook Ecosystem: Choosing the Right Tool

1. Sling Hooks (Eye & Clevis)

The standard termination for most chain and wire rope slings.

• Clevis Hooks: Connect directly to the chain links via a load pin. We stock Crosby and Gunnebo Grade 100 clevis hooks that eliminate the need for a connecting link.
• Eye Hooks: Designed for use with wire rope thimbles or synthetic web slings (via a coupler).
• Foundry Hooks: Wide-throat hooks designed without a latch to fit over large trunnions or molding handles.

2.Self-Locking Hooks (Safety Hooks)

The safest option for overhead lifting. These hooks close and lock automatically under load.

• Gunnebo BK Series: The gold standard in self-locking technology. The latch interlocks with the hook body for maximum stability.
• Crosby Shur-Loc (S-1316): Features a large trigger for easy operation with gloves.

Used to adjust the leg length of a chain sling.

• Cradle Grab Hooks: Feature a support saddle that cradles the chain link, ensuring the chain retains 100% of its Working Load Limit (WLL).

Replacement hooks for cranes and blocks.

• Crosby 320N Series: The industry standard carbon and alloy hoist hooks.

Maintenance: Latch Kits & Spares

A broken latch is the most common reason a hook fails inspection. You don't always need to replace the whole hook. HHI stocks genuine OEM Replacement Parts:

• Trigger Kits: For repairing Gunnebo and Crosby self-locking hooks.
