Load Link Kits & Digital Dynamometers

Eliminate the guesswork in heavy lifting. Load Link Kits (also known as Tension Load Cells or Dynamometers) provide real-time, high-accuracy weight verification for critical lifts. Designed to be rigged in-line between the hook and the load, these devices allow riggers and crane operators to monitor tension forces, prevent overloads, and verify shipment weights with precision.

Load Link Kits & Digital Dynamometers

Holloway Houston stocks a premier inventory of Load Monitoring hardware from the world's leaders: Crosby Straightpoint and LMS (by Pewag). From 1-ton utility weighing to massive 500-ton project cargo dynamometers, our inventory includes standard wireless units and specialized Subsea models for underwater operations.

Brand Spotlight: Crosby Straightpoint

The Gold Standard in Load Monitoring Crosby Straightpoint is synonymous with reliability in the rigging industry. Their load cells are constructed from high-grade aerospace aluminum or alloy steel, offering a high strength-to-weight ratio.

  • Loadlink Plus (LLP) : The original electronic force measurement device with an integral display. It allows the operator to read the load directly on the link itself. Ideal for static weighing and proof load testing.
  • Radiolink Plus (RLP) : A fully wireless solution. It transmits load data to a handheld controller up to 1,000 meters (3,280 ft) away, keeping the operator at a safe distance during dynamic lifts.
  • SubseaLink (SL) : Engineered for the harsh marine environment. These load links are pressure tested and sealed for use in deep-water lifting, mooring tension monitoring, and offshore construction.

Brand Spotlight: LMS (Load Monitoring Systems)

Heavy Lift Specialists Powered by Pewag, LMS load links are designed for extreme capacity and durability. Our inventory features the LMS Wireless Load Cell Dynamometer series, ranging from 1 Ton up to 500 Tons.

  • Turnkey Kits : Most LMS units are sold as complete kits, including the load cell, a rugged handheld display, and a transit case.
  • High Capacity : With stock units capable of measuring 1 million+ lbs (500 Tons), these are the go-to choice for weighing modules, vessel weighing, and structural testing.

Applications & Use Cases

  • Weight Verification : Confirming the weight of a load before it is placed onto a ship or transport vehicle to ensure stability calculations are correct.
  • Proof Load Testing : Verifying the capacity of cranes, davits, and pad eyes.
  • Bollard Pull Tests : Measuring the towing force of tugboats and vessels.
  • Subsea Operations : Monitoring tension on mooring lines or lowering subsea manifolds (using Crosby SL series).

Technical Specifications

  • Accuracy : Typically ±0.1% to ±0.3% of the applied load (depending on model).
  • Safety Factor : Electronic load cells are generally designed with a minimum 5:1 mechanical safety factor to prevent structural failure, even if the electronics are overloaded.
  • Wireless Range : Most units operate on 2.4GHz frequency with extensive range, allowing data to be viewed on handhelds or PC software.
  • IP Rating:
    • Standard : IP67 (Dust and Water Resistant).
    • Subsea (SL) : IP68 / NEMA 6P (Submersible to specific depths).

Calibration & Service

Load cells are precision instruments. To maintain accuracy and compliance, they require regular calibration.

  • In-House Calibration : Holloway Houston can verify and re-calibrate your load links on our certified test beds (up to 3,000 tons).
  • Traceability : All new kits ship with a valid calibration certificate traceable to national standards.

Complete Your Monitoring Rig

A Load Link requires shackle connections at both ends to function correctly. Ensure you pair your dynamometer with the correct size Crosby G-2130 or Wide Body Shackles to fit the loading holes. Note: Using undersized shackles can damage the load cell and affect accuracy.
