Holloway Synthetic Winch Lines

A synthetic winch line is a high-performance line made from high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE) fiber, the same material class used in mooring lines, offshore applications, and high-capacity lifting. At the same diameter, synthetic winch line is lighter than steel wire rope and floats on water, making it easier to handle in recovery and marine environments. In a line failure event, synthetic line stores less energy than steel wire rope, reducing recoil risk.

Holloway Houston manufactures synthetic winch lines in 5/8-inch, 3/4-inch, and 7/8-inch diameters across 50-foot to 100-foot lengths. Each line is pre-configured with either a Yoke Hook or Crosby Hook at the working end.

Where Holloway Synthetic Winch Lines Are Used

  • Off-Road Vehicle Recovery - Replacing steel wire rope on truck and SUV winches where lighter weight and lower recoil risk are priorities.

  • Marine and Water Recovery - Synthetic line floats, making recovery from water easier than with steel wire rope.

  • Oilfield and Heavy Recovery - High-MBL synthetic lines in professional recovery operations where the load demands a high-capacity line.

  • Overland and Expedition - Pre-spooled winch lines for expedition rigs needing a line that performs in remote environments without the rust of steel.

  • Fleet and Municipal Vehicles - Recovery trucks and emergency vehicles where synthetic winch lines reduce maintenance burden compared to steel wire rope.

Why Holloway Houston

Holloway Houston manufactures synthetic winch lines at its Houston, Texas facility under ISO 9001 quality management. Pre-fitted hook options - Yoke Hook and Crosby Hook - mean the line is ready to spool onto the winch drum without sourcing additional hardware. 65 years of rigging experience backs the testing behind the MBL ratings on every line.

Synthetic Winch Line Inspection

Synthetic winch lines warrant inspection before each use and after any high-load event. Conditions indicating a line needs closer evaluation include cuts, abrasion, kinks, heat damage, chemical discoloration, and broken or fuzzing fibers on the surface. A line showing these conditions warrants retirement per manufacturer guidelines before the next use.
