Lifting Points provide a fixed, engineered attachment point on a load - such as machinery, a fabricated part, or a container - so rigging can be attached safely and repeatably for lifting.
Yes. Many lifting points are rated for straight vertical pull, and pulling at an angle reduces the usable capacity. Always check the manufacturer's angular load derating chart for the specific point being used.
Threaded lifting points must be torqued to the manufacturer's specification for the thread size and the mating material to develop their full rated capacity. Under-torquing is a common cause of point failure or loosening in service.
Inspect before each use for thread damage, cracks, deformation of the eye, or wear at the load-bearing bore, and follow a periodic inspection schedule for permanently installed points. Remove from service if the shoulder or collar shows any lift-off from the mounting surface.
