Bolt-type or screw pin, it's the first question on most shackle orders. The answer depends on whether the pin needs to stay put under vibration, side-loading, or sustained cycling. Crosby has been answering that question since 1887, and their G-209/S-209 screw pin and G-2130/S-2130 bolt-type lines remain the standard reference for anchor shackles across the industry.
Holloway Houston is an authorized Crosby distributor stocking shackles from 3/16" through 2" from our Houston warehouse.
The Crosby Group traces its roots to 1887 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Over 135 years of forging and heat-treating rigging hardware has produced a catalog that most riggers treat as the industry baseline, when someone says "shackle," Crosby G-209 is often the implied default.
Crosby shackles are forged from alloy steel, quenched and tempered, and proof-tested before leaving the factory. Both G-series and S-series shackles are forged alloy steel, quenched and tempered. They carry the same WLL at equivalent body sizes, the difference is pin type and fatigue rating, not capacity. Every shackle body carries the WLL, manufacturer logo, and traceability markings per ASME B30.26-2015 (Rigging Hardware).
The RFID traceability program available on select Crosby hardware lets maintenance teams link a shackle's proof test and inspection history to the physical unit, a feature that matters on long-term rigging assemblies and offshore equipment registers.
Holloway Houston stocks the core Crosby shackle lines in Houston with same-day shipping on standard sizes.
The G-209 and S-209 screw pin anchor shackles are the workhorse of rigging hardware. The bow body accepts multi-leg sling connections, the wide profile distributes force across sling legs without concentrating load on the pin. The screw pin threads in and out by hand, which makes it fast for rigging setups that change frequently. The G-209 and S-209 run from 1/3 ton through 35 tons across 15 sizes.
On any connection with sustained vibration, turnaround work, offshore platforms, permanent rigging, the G-2130 bolt-type is the standard call. The bolt-nut-cotter assembly keeps the pin from backing out where a screw pin won't stay put. The G-2130 and S-2130 cover 1/3 ton through 55 tons, with the 2-1/2" alloy version reaching 55 tons. Same bow-body profile as the screw pin lines, the difference is in the pin retention, not the body geometry.
Chain shackles, also called D-shackles or dee shackles, use a narrower, D-shaped bow that's suited to in-line connections on chain and wire rope slings. Where the anchor shackle's wide bow is designed for multi-leg sling eyes, the chain shackle keeps the load centered on the pin for straight-pull applications. Crosby chain shackles are available in both screw pin and bolt-type configurations.
Crosby shackles cover WLL ranges across standard rigging capacity requirements. The G-209 and S-209 screw pin and G-2130 and S-2130 bolt-type lines carry the same WLL at every overlapping size, the pin type does not change capacity.

Crosby shackles carry over 135 years of manufacturing history in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Global Quality Management System covers raw material sourcing, forging, heat treatment, proof testing, and final inspection - and the lot marking on every shackle ties back to that documentation.
For riggers working offshore, in petrochemical service, or on any job where the rigging hardware needs to perform under documented conditions, the Crosby traceability system means the shackle's history follows the hardware. That matters on equipment registers and third-party inspection programs.
Holloway Houston also offers rigging inspection services. Our qualified inspectors examine shackles, slings, and hardware per ASME B30.26-2015 (Rigging Hardware) and OSHA standards to keep your equipment in service and your crews working.

Shackles in load-handling service fall under ASME B30.26-2015 (Rigging Hardware), which covers design factors, marking requirements, and inspection intervals. OSHA 1926.251 addresses rigging hardware on jobsites.
Shackles are load-bearing rigging hardware. Selection, inspection, and use follow ASME B30.26-2015 (Rigging Hardware), OSHA standards, and the manufacturer's documentation.
